Tata Steel’s effort to set up a modern sports complex at Shankarpur in Keonjhar district has taken a concrete shape with the completion of construction work, amounting to Rs 5 crores
Facilities available in the complex include, an indoor hall, galleries with 2,000 seats and an open field with a 400-meter running track. The indoor hall has a gymnasium, changing rooms and courts for badminton, basketball and volleyball.
Jamshedpur Utilities Services Company Ltd (JUSCO), a subsidiary of Tata Steel, has built the complex for which land was provided by the State Government. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone of the complex earlier on December 16, 2006.
